Dilas Luis - I missed out the word NOT before implausible. What you are saying is plausible.

Very plausible!

And you are right ... denying achievements of the Africans was a part of the same game plan that was later played out against Indian history. Hegel was the leader of this historiography.

When I state that there was 50,000 slaves in the beginning is just a way for you to see that if there were that in the beginning how much would there be in mid-1800's?

What do you mean about implausible? Some African historians state that Europeans shoot the Sphinx nose on an attempt to hide it's true african features and for a long time, and sometimes still now, they deny that ancient egypt was dark skinned. Europeans history books state the Africans as savages that lived in tribes although African and European historians have found evidences of huge civilizations and cities... some people now are saying that the jewish Holocaust never happened. American soldiers, when arrived at the concentration camps, said to take photos as much as they could because some people would eventually try to deny it. History has a strange way to keep repeating it self and people have the tendency to forget history when they were the persecutors and did awful things. Do you want your children to really know how low have you descended?

Slavery in Portugal started about 500 years ago. Are you questioning the ability of the slave masters to eliminate 50,000 slaves. Britain had four times as many in 1830 or so. Where are they now? Same story. If you click on the embedded links, you will see more data and numbers. You will see this is probable!

If you are suggesting that some 'alternate methods of mass extermination' similar to Hitler, were used, I have not found any mention or evidence of that - though it is NOT implausible.

Diseases, shippement from England, imprisionment, forced migrations, economic dislocations, and some other aspects you stated only explain for the reduction of a population NOT for the absense of it, I believe.

In Madeira, Portugal, at the beginning of slavery, there were approximately 50,000 slaves! Now, you go there, and it's ONLY native european people. It strikes me as odd, to say the least...

This search of mine has not ended, for sure! And I already encountered the racism and ignorance that I shield my self from. Sometimes I almost cried in awe when I realized once again that humanity has not gone out of the cave.

Dilas Luis - Excellent question! And a valid point!!

this question remains unanswered. Noone seems to talk about it.

Last point first. The question of slavery and colonialism are the Elephants in the Western History - which the West has successfully, evaded and silenced dissent with greater din, on other irrelevant topics and a trail of red herrings. Excellent job by Western 'historians and academics in making slavery and colonialism invisible.

The focus and memory of slavery in USA is more recent and egregious - and hence greater examination of that has happened. But the genocide of slaves in Europe has followed the same pattern.

African American population in the US at the time of the Civil War, was roughly 25%. It has now declined to roughly 12 %. Where did the other half of the slave population disappear.

One - As this post points out, this was accomplished, for instance, by poor health care.

Secondly - as this post also points out, this was done by shipping these 'liberated' slaves to Liberia, Sierra Leone (from England).

Third - as another post points out, it was significantly higher levels of imprisonment of the African Americans in the US and in modern times, of Muslims in the UK.

Fourth - were forced migrations - like death of Native Americans in the Trail of Tears.

Fifth - was economic dislocations, which exposed the dispossessed and oppressed to these economic vagaries, without the State support that the privileged White populations were provided. An empirical example of this is pointed out in another post, which shows the higher death rates during mass privatizations in Soviet Russia. Or the targetting of Roma Gypsies in Europe even today.

Sixth - was the kidnapping of children and breaking of family structures - like in the case of Roma Gypsies and the extermination of Australian Aborigines.

For a prospective genocide planner, Hitler's biggest mistake was his 'over-enthusiasm'. He should have followed the footsteps of his other European predecessors - where the genocides were done with less fan fare, in smaller sized chunks, over a longer time frame.

Same difference!
