PT Barnum – Seven Pillars of Western Wisdom

Sanitize and smuggle

With passage of time, the real harm to the Indian society by some of the foreign rulers is forgotten. For instance, the Mughal period saw the impoverishment of the Indian farmer, due to uncertainty over land title, whimsical tax regimes – and not the religious agenda, which has been ‘sold’ to Indians. By latter colonial rulers, the British.

We may see a repeat of the same phenomenon, this time, seeing the colonial rule through rose-tinted glasses. Colonialism was an unmitigated disaster – and should be clearly remembered as such.

We may see attempts to cover up the colonial misrule, by ‘academics’ whose motives are not always obvious or in the open. One such ‘academic’ is Kishore Mahbubani.

Kishore Mahbubani

Kishore Mahbubani

Gushing Press

H.E.Professor Dr.Kishore Mahbubani, of the National University of Singapore, Dean, Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy has recently written a book.

In an interview with The Times Of India he opined, a cloying, subservient and ignorant view of the modern history. “Asia has benefited immensely from the western seven pillars of wisdom — free market, science and technology, meritocracy, pragmatism, culture of peace, rule of law and education” says Mahbubani.

On Mahbubani, comments The Economist, very patronisingly, “Kishore Mahbubani makes some sensible recommendations.” Strangely, The Economist, says this is “an anti-Western polemic, designed to wake up Americans and Europeans by making them angry. In that goal, it will certainly be successful.” Reportedly, The Economist, has decided that Kishore Mahbubani is an “Asian Toynbee preoccupied with the rise and fall of civilisations.”

Echoing The Economist, is The Shanghai Daily, which pronounces “Singaporean author Kishore Mahbubani has been likened to an Asian Toynbee”. Joining the fray, The Deccan Herald chips in with “Kishore Mahbubani is the ultimate foreign policy guru.” Niranjan Rajadhyaksa of The Mint (a HT-WSJ publication) intones,“Asia has both suffered and learnt a lot from the West … Mahbubani has been extremely fair.”

I tried disagreeing. I thought I had overwhelming evidence. But after the Mahbubani experience, with liberal doses of assistance from St.Barnum’s (patron saint of propaganda), I must admit, I was enlightened.

And I also want to know, who your PR agency is, Kishorbhai!

Ulta Chor Kotwal Ko Datein

1. Free Markets

I was a non-believer in Western commitment to free markets. After reading Kishore Mahbubani, I realized, I was reading too much propaganda about how Indian mangoes could not be exported to USA for the last 18 years – because of pesticide residues.

India, (wrongly) disallowed imports of allegedly, ‘over-priced, gas-guzzling, polluting’ Harley-Davidson motorcycles. USA, in turn taught India a thing or two about free trade. After a sufficiently, enlightened India, lifted restrictions on imports of Harley-Davidson motorcycles, pesticide residues disappeared, and the US allowed imports of Indian mangoes again.

I am sure that Indian farmers, with some devious trickery, ensured that pesticide residues vanished.

For the last 300 years, the West restricted imports of fabrics and garments. Dhaka’s de-urbanization due to this in the 1800-1900 is written into history – wrongly. The last law was the MFA agreement which created a quota-based regime for textiles, in the West.

Agricultural subsidies of nearly US$20 billion dollars by USA and EU, to their farmers are also in the spirit of free trade. For the benefit of the starving Rest, the West is giving these subsidies to Western farmers, to lower food prices. How does it matter that the agricultural economy of the recipient nations gets destroyed!

West Is Best!!

Things like non-tariff barriers are hokum and over-worked Eastern imagination. The story of repeated and frequent rejection of mushroom exports from India is also in the spirit of free trade.

Indian applications for ‘equivalence’ certificates have been pending with EU for the last 7-8 years – and not processed for the last 7-8 years due to lack of manpower. Interim annuals approvals are given instead – in the spirit of free trade, after some ‘concessions’.

Of course, the Western zeal for free trade extends to enforcing opium trade (just ask the Chinese). Kishorebhai, I only wish, ignorant Easterner that I am, is that we in India can enforce ‘free trade’ in opium today in USA and the Europe.

When the ignorant East, did not see the benefits of Western invention of free trade, the West was compelled to use force (remember Commodore Perry? For more details, ask the Japanese).

St.Barnum’s Says

Mahbubani’s assertions are right. These ‘facts’ above are like a bikini. What they reveal is indicative, what they conceal is vital! In this case, the Western spirit of free trade. How can the ignorant East, question Western wisdom – or ethics, integrity, motives? Of course, all these cases and incidents are a conspiracy to defame the West.

2. Science & Technology

Before Western invention of Science and Technology, what did the East know?

Zilch. Zero. Sifr. Shunya. That is all. This claim about India inventing the zero and infinity is probably right. Because they had infinite knowledge about Zero – and nothing else. All their books about geometry (Aryabhatta, Bhaskara) are just figments of Eastern imagination. Eastern knowledge about eclipse prediction has now been proved wrong by Kishore Mahbubani’s expose. Indian shipbuilders and steel technology was just puffery – as demonstrated by Kishore Mahbubani. The Hulk Dropped The Easter Island Statues

Of course as Hegel said, there is no African history. I realize after reading Kishore Mahbubani’s interview that there is only Western Science and Technology. It must have been some Westerners behind the ‘achievements’ of China, Africa and India.

How ignorant I was before being enlightened by Kishorebhai!

PT Barnum adds – Are you not forgetting the option of crediting aliens?

3.Meritocracy

Poor ‘Blacks’!

They were always mislead by their leaders. The only place in the world that they could find equity, was in the West. If the West had not ‘bought’ these poor ‘Blacks’ and allegedly ‘enslaved’ them, they would have still have been in Africa – and lost the benefits of the Western meritocracy. Some Black leaders are today claiming that they have even contributed to Western technology.

The sheer audacity!

Xenophobia

Similarly, if the Gypsies had not left India, (supposedly) a thousand years ago, they would have lost all the benefits of Western civilization. Early Punjabi settlers in USA did not properly understand their position in Western society. They were basically inferior people who demanded equality to their White masters.

This mis-perception, of course, created misdirected protests. These ignorant immigrants from the East did not properly understand Western meritocracy.

The Wisdom Of St.Barnum If Japanese and Chinese immigrants faced discrimination in the USA, it was their fault – why did they have to look different?

4. Pragmatism

I agree that the West is truly pragmatic!

Dr.RA Mashelkar, a senior scientist and administrator, writes:

“A recent study by an Indian expert group examined randomly selected 762 US patents, which were granted under A61K35/78 and other IPC classes, having a direct relationship with medicinal plants in terms of their full text. Out of these patents, 374 patents were found to be based on traditional knowledge …”

After annihilating the Australian Aborigines, the Australian Government decided to apologize. What more does the world expect? This apology from the magnanimous West was as pragmatic as anyone can get! Kishorebhai, we have a saying in India, about cats going on a pilgrimage after killing a hundred rats. In this case, of course, the West went one better. They killed millions of humans – and apologized for that!

Western practice of Pragmatism at its best!

St.Barnum sez – What could be more pragmatic? I agree with Kishore Mahbubani! The Pollution Conundrum

5. Culture Of Peace

The Native Americans were wiped out – nearly the entire race! Today they are a relic – a tourist attraction! Like rare animals in a zoo!

Aborigines in Australia have similarly been annihilated. Two world wars in a space of 40 years. The entire Jewish population of the world has been reduced to 10 million – by the West.

But, Kishore Mahbubani says, the Western civilization is about peace! And he is right!

These wars were forced upon the West – and were fought to bring peace on Earth. Now since there are no Native Americans  and Aborigines, how can there be a war with the Native Americans and Aborigines. Similarly, if there are no Jews, there cannot be a war with the Jews. The West is also trying to cleanse the earth of all Muslims. Then there cannot be a war with Muslims also.

St.Barnum pays a tribute to Kishore Mahbubani – Kishorebhai, you concept of culture of peace is stunning to say the least. Hats off.

6.Rule of Law

Completely true and a matter of fact!

Consider the Western laws on slavery! And those related to minorities! Or current laws in the UK and US to deal with terrorism.

The disenfranchisement laws came into effect by the 1890’s – that continue till today. This ensured that the disproportionate numbers of ‘Blacks’ could not vote – and George Bush became the President of the USA for the 2nd time. After some 60,000 ‘Black’ Voters were disenfranchised, George Bush technically, won by less than 1000 votes (most of the disenfranchised voters were expected to vote against George Bush).

Petty crime (where poor) ‘Blacks’ were convicted in higher ratios were grounds for disenfranchisement. These laws ensured that 10 times higher number of ‘Blacks’ were disqualified compared to Whites. If that is not bad enough, it continues till now. Such tactics continue to be used to limit Black participation in democracy.

In 1904, the US pressured Tomas Estrada Palma, a ‘puppet’ Cuban President, to sign the Platt Amendment. This allowed US intervention in Cuban affairs, if ‘vital’ US  interests were at risk (meaning at US will) – finally modified only in 1934. The many laws which made Gypsy hunting legal – like laws which made hunting animals legal. The latest news in that Italians are going to crack down on Gypsies – as per a EU law.

St.Barnum confirms – Yes, Kishore Sir! The West believes in laws.

The Usual Suspects

7.Education

I must admit, that Western education does achieve its goals!

West does produce leaders, generation after generation, who relentlessly execute the same agenda. The annihilation, the massacre, the pogroms – against natives in America and Australia, minorities like Gypsies, Jews and various Christian sects. The kidnapping of Aboriginal and Gypsy children. The massacres in Africa – from Roman times to 20th century. And now the specter of Islamic Demonization.

St.Barnum adds – This degree of continuity and consistency is missing with others. There is something about Western education Mr.Mahbubani, I agree.

Country Model of the West

The real country model that the West manages itself on is something else Mr.Mahbubani. Loot – of gold, resources, ideas. And slavery. Add significant amounts of fraud.

Nothing more and nothing less. And their strategy to ‘white wash’ this – propaganda. With Kishorebhai’s plausible sincerity, I am not quite able to decide if Kishorebhai is an innocent and ignorant victim of Western propaganda or a part of the propaganda.

Either way, his book and his ideas are trash – and this post is a case of intellectual slumming.

PT Barnum – Pope Announces Cannonisation

Posted in Current Affairs, History, Satire, Uncategorized by Anuraag Sanghi on March 13, 2008

The US has the world’s largest body of believers and followers of PT Barnum. To gain market share in the USA, the Pope has recently received a proposal to declare PT Barnum as a Saint. This was revealed when the original draft of Honest Abe‘s speech was discovered under the Bush & Bush podium (more on that later).

Honest Abe made a stirring speech and said “that this nation, under our Patron Saint PT Barnum, shall have a new birth of freedom – and that government of the White people, by the White people, for the White people, shall not perish from the earth.”

Subsequently, some devious Black Supremacist historians (in a conspiracy with the Native Americans, then aka ‘The Red Indians’) re-wrote the speech. They removed PT Barnum and inserted God. They also went ahead and removed the three most important words, white, white and white.PT Barnum

This changed history. Over the next 100 years, the Blacks slowly subverted the American Constitution, gained voting rights, admission into schools and colleges, could live in cities, own property – in short, completely subvert the American way of life.

So much so, their life expectancy has also increased.

I think similar acts of vandalism has been perpetrated by the Afro-Americans and Native Americans in the case of Patrick Henry, Thomas Jefferson and Emma Lazarus (given below). President George Bush has agreed to support my efforts – and I can call the American Marines any time I want. My sternous efforts to uncover such acts continue.

“I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty, or give me death!” declared Patrick Henry, speaking on behalf of the Whites. Enslaved Afro-Americans and all the Native Americans marked for genocide – conspired and claimed that Patrick Henry had included them in this declaration.

Jefferson, (when he was dining alone), wrote that all White men are created equal’, in the Declaration of Independence. The conspirators removed the word White.

Emma Lazarus said …

Give me your tired, your poor whites, Your huddled white masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched white refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the white homeless, tempest-tossed, to me: I lift my lamp for these whites beside the golden door.

I think the rest of us, (the browns, yellows and blacks) are dismissive of these crimes of the conspirators. It is clear to all those who matter (the whites, who else) that this was never meant to be. We the devious (browns, blacks and yellows) are ignorant, backward and don’t understand these truths – and are subverting the natural order of the Whites.

Some may call it hypocrisy, but I think it is unfair – to the hypocrites. These ‘great men’ had deliberately put the important word, White. Even after the removal of the important parts of these writings and declarations, the writers and their followers remained faithful to the original.

Honest mistake? Wrong!

It is all one big Black Supremacist conspiracy – with the Native Americans. Al Qaeda also seems to have joined this conspiracy. Await updates.

As Long As You Are White …

Posted in Uncategorized by Anuraag Sanghi on March 11, 2008

Thus Spake Patrick Henry

“I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty, or give me death!” declared Patrick Henry.

And Americans promptly enslaved many Africans and gave death to the Native Americans. Africans (later to become the Afro-Americans) and all the Native Americans marked for slavery and genocide, in the glory of the White Race – conspired and claimed that Patrick Henry had included them in this declaration.

Jefferson, (when he was dining alone), wrote that all White men are created equal’, in the Declaration of Independence – and excluded all ‘Blacks’, ‘Reds’ and others from being equal.

Emma Lazarus said …

Give me your tired, your poor whites,
Your huddled white masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched white refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the white homeless, tempest-tossed, to me:
I lift my lamp for these whites beside the golden door.

Is Saint Peter A White?

The Conspiracy

The conspirators removed the word White from these important documents authored by Jefferson and Emma Lazarus – and claimed undue benefits robbing poor Whites of their rightful free labor and land.

I think the rest of us, (the browns, yellows and blacks) are dismissive of these crimes by the conspirators. It is clear to all those who matter (the Whites, who else) that this was never meant to be. We the devious (browns, blacks and yellows) are ignorant, backward and don’t understand these truths – and are subverting the natural order of the Whites. We reduce the great achievements of these ‘great’ men’ and do not appreciate their ‘spirit’.

It is clear to all those who matter (the whites, who else) that this conspiracy was never imagined by these poor authors – but is now read without the important missing words. If we (browns, blacks and yellows) are ignorant, backward and don’t understand these subtleties, we can not take away the ‘greatness’ from these people.

Faithful Followers

Some may call it hypocrisy, but I think it is unfair – to the hypocrites. These ‘great men’ had deliberately put the important word, White. Even after the removal of the important parts of these writings and declarations, the writers and their followers remained faithful to the original. These ‘great men’ wrote genuinely clear documents – with these important words.

You will agree it is not their mistake!

The Crime Of Slavery – Buying & Selling People

Posted in Business, European History, Gold Reserves, History, India, Islamic Demonization, politics, Religion, Satire by Anuraag Sanghi on March 10, 2008

“They bought them from other Africans. As someone said, you can’t get much lower than someone who sells his brother.” A reader’s comment reg. slavery on my blog.

Brother's Keeper?

Brother's Keeper?

I agree it is low to sell one’s own brother. Is that the lowest one can go to? What can be the lowest anyone go to? If there is a dispute for a position at the bottom of the moral cess pit, to answer this question … I need help.

You see, I have a problem – honestly, I must blame my backward country and my backward education for this. We were taught that all humans were equals.

I was also told that this value of the individual makes the West different – and is enshrined in the Greco-Roman-Euro history, culture, literature, thinking, renaissance, enlightenment, religion, leadership …

We were told that we from India did not consider others as brothers – and that was our problem. Caste-system you see!

So, in my warped thinking, a question rose!

Low To Sell – Lower Still To Buy, Trade, Legalize Slavery

Is it not lower to buy one’s own brother – even lower than, to sell. And to create laws, institutions, precedents to promote, popularize slavery?

Does the fact that a family member sells manifestly stolen ‘goods’ (in this case human beings) stolen from the family wealth, allow the buyer to buy ‘stolen’ goods. Is trade in ‘stolen goods’ acceptable if the robber happens to rob his own family? But then, if the skin is black or yellow or brown, I presume these rules do not apply.

“the inconvenient fact that the Arab world played at least as large a part in the slave trade as any Western power, for instance; or the uncomfortable truth that African chieftains were all too willing to sell other Africans to Western and Arab slave dealers. In the light of this, what are we to make of allegations that ‘racism’ lay at the heart of the slave trade?” From a book review of The Slave Trade By Jeremy Black, at The Social affairs Unit.

Vatican Supported Slavery

When the followers of Mani (a teacher of Buddhist and Christian teachings) were rooting for the slaves to revolt and declare themselves free, administrators of the teachings of the “Lord of lords, and King of kings.” (Revelation 17: 14) at the Council Of Gangra approved of slavery.

Jefferson Forgot

The Great White Chief in the Sky, Thomas Jefferson declared ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal’ We can’t hold his feet to the fire, if he forgot to add (possibly in the hurry to dine alone), as long as they are white.

Scrap The Sydney Test

Posted in Business, Current Affairs, European History, History, language, Media by Anuraag Sanghi on March 4, 2008

Now that the One day Tri Series is over, and the Test series in Australia is also over, India needs to move. The Sydney Test should be scrubbed out of the record books. The Sydney was a was about racism and politics – and not about sports at all.

Australians cricket needs to fall in line with sporting norms’.

Background

Modern international sport is an Anglo Saxon construct. All modern games with international following were constructed, nurtured and administered by Anglo Saxons – for propaganda purposes. Basketball, Badminton, Cricket, Baseball, Football, Hockey – all of them. Being the creators of the sport, the Anglo Saxons always had a head-start – and ahead on the learning curve. They hate it when other catch up – and after that these mind games begin.

Sports As Propaganda

Afraid of losing the propaganda war, to Hitler’s ‘Aryan’ athletes, the first response of the Anglo Saxon Bloc was boycott. But Hitler was a babe in the woods – on the propaganda war that followed. The Germans put up a display without precedents. The Olympic relay torch, the press centre (with telex machines), television coverage were concepts that the Berlin Games organising comittee put up. But, good organising was not enough.

Jesse Owens was a master stroke. Blacks who otherwise were not allowed to drink or eat at the same facilities in America, suddenly became representatives of the land of the free – a propaganda tool. (This link leads to an article which talks about the false propaganda about the ‘imaginary’ snub that Owens received from Hitler). The use of Cathy Freeman by the Australians, an Aborigine, 60 years later was another instance of the same.

Post WW2, repeated Olympic boycotts against Soviet Russia in 1956, 1980 etc. had more to do with fear of losing. Soviets Olympic participation for the first time in 1956 sent shivers down the USA – who did not want to come out second. A win as a pseudo-military victory is best exemplified by Eisenhower’s involvement in the preparation for the 1956 and 1960 Olympics. The Anglo-Saxon bloc is the largest winner of Olympic medals in most years.

Spassky Fischer Title MatchThe USA and Australian focus on sports has propaganda motives (Hitler and Soviet Russia learnt from) – like the Boris Spassky-Robert Fischer title match.

The Boris Spassky-Bobby Fischer chess championships (early 1970s) which were projected as West versus East match by the ABC (America, Australia, Britain, Canada) press and media is a prime instance of this. Apart from Chess, much grandstanding was done by Fischer – starting with the opening ceremony. This distracted Spassky. This was much like the targetting of Ishant Sharma, Harbhajan Singh by the Aussies during the recent Test and One Day series. Steve Waugh, their former captain talked about ‘mind games’ leading to ‘mental disintegration’ amongst opponents.

After India (and Pakistan) dominated hockey for 50 years, the ABC Bloc saw one way out to break this win record. Change the rules. Indians did not see this coming. Using the pretext of making hockey more exciting, the Australians (with some other white countries) modified the game where skills became less important. The rest as they say is history.

Baron Pierre de Coubertin, a recognised anglophile, was supported in his Olympic movement by Britain – as a propaganda measure. Says Stefan Szymanski,

“… this mythology has been propagated internationally by the writings of de Coubertin and his followers. De Coubertin, for example, gave much of the credit for development of sport to Thomas Arnold at Rugby School, an attribution that has survived long; yet in reality Arnold seems to have had no noticeable interest in sport … the public schools played a significant role in creating to rhetoric of sportsmanship, which became do important to the self-image of the British and was so attractive to anglophiles such as de Coubertin …” (ellipsis mine From A Theory Of The Evolution Of Modern Sport By Stefan Szymanski).

Eight to One

As any statistician will tell you, when umpiring mistakes go against anyone in eight to one ratio (of the possible 24-28 top order dismissals), it is usually accompanied by a pervading smell of bovine excrement. Interestingly, all the decisions that favored the Australians were against the Indian top order batsmen or in favor of the Australian top order batsmen.

33% (9 out of the possible 28) wrong decisions cannot be a co-incidence. It is not odds or an even chance. It is design – or a conspiracy. Deccan Herald said Anil Kumble’s side was on the wrong end of eight umpiring mistakes, which had affected the outcome.

A report on the Sydney Test, by an Australian reporter, Alex Brown stands out. Deftly, he changes the argument. From cricket the financial muscle of the ‘monster’ which is the ‘Indian Cricket Board.’ Brown’s criticism and reporting is completely devoid of the Indian standpoint.

“Each time an Indian cricketer appeals, umpires are now compromised. Enrage the monster, and pay for it with your job” (italics mine) says Brown.

Actually, each time an Australian appealed, the umpires raised their fingers. Each time an appeal against an Aussie top order batsman was made by Indians, the umpires turned it down. After 33% wrong decisions and a trumped up charge, Alex Brown thinks the Indian Monster Board is in the wrong.

What’s The Big Deal

This was not about cricket at all. It was another demonstration of Anglo Saxon political behaviour in its distilled form. To the Anglo Saxon Bloc, sports is racial superiority by another means – and not entertainment or sport. (For further proof, click on this link and read this article).

A Precedent

Jagmohan Dalmiya

Jagmohan Dalmiya

Till the 1983, world cricket was run by the UK and Australia. These countries, of course, had veto power, had the funding, to control the game. In 1983, however, Britain and Australia hit a financial roadblock – the 1987 World Cup sponsorship. They did not have a sponsor in place for the 1987 World Cup. And then India stepped in. India roped in Dhirubhai Ambani for the sponsorship. India roped in Pakistan to put in a joint bid for the 1987 World Cup.

What was Special

This was, simply, without a precedent. For three reasons.

First, this was a unique case, where rich and developed countries could not find a sponsor for a sporting event, which they dominated. And a poor country could.

Imran Khan

Imran Khan

India, in 1987, still had a waiting period for Bajaj Scooters. Maruti cars had just been introduced. Colour TV sets were rare and colour TV transmission had started a few years old – and a luxury. Competitive bidding for TV rights was not possible – and could be sold only to a public sector TV transmission monopoly. Computers in India were rare and far in between. Private sector as we knew it was non-existent. Licenses were required for everything. Foreign exchange situation was precarious. Hence, for a poor country to bid for a World Cup was unprecedented.

The second major challenge was the organization. Indian bureaucracy was then (much more than now) a minefield. Myriad laws made any kind of complicated organization a nightmare. Private sector was seen with suspicion. Indian films still portrayed businessmen as villains. Indian software industry was nowhere in sight. India did not have even one (private sector) company in the Fortune 500 list. To say the least, it was audacious, at a time when India dominated by stereotypes (more then than now).

But the third element that has remained unrecognized was the working of the India Pakistan partnership. The World Cup bid was a joint bid (1985) by India and Pakistan. No one would have bet that India Pakistan could have worked together. But together they did. And successfully. This Indo-Pak relationship has now survived for more than 20 years.

What Changed

Sunil Manohar Gavaskar

Sunil Manohar Gavaskar

India and Pakistan, went ahead and moved cricketing headquarters from UK to Dubai. Unlike Bro.Manmohan Singh at the high table, BCCI and Pakistan just took away the veto powers of UK and Australia over cricketing matters. In spite of best efforts of ‘divide-and-rule’ by the ECB (UK’s cricketing authority) and Cricket Australia. UK, in a case of sour grapes, went ahead and stopped its players from participating in the Indian Premier League. Australia broke ranks, and participated. South Africa started with its first official post-apartheid series in India – the post-apartheid ‘coming out’ party.

In the UK and Australia, this loss of power rankles.

What should be done?

Dhoni and Team have beaten Australians in Australia at their own game. The One Day Tri Series was convincingly won. The Test Series was also clearly an Indian victory – which was taken away by means, that the Anglo Saxons are best at. And scrubbing the Sydney test will remove the sheep’s clothing from the wolf back.

And that may lead to bigger things – and better things too.
